30 Aug Open Day and Model Railway Show at Blythburgh Station on Sunday 10th September 2023
There will be an Open Day and Model Railway Show at Blythburgh Station on Sunday 10th September 2023 between 10.30am and 4pm. Plenty of parking will be available nearby. Entry is free and there will be free coffees, teas and cakes. There will be a live steam model railway and runs up and down our track, featuring our battery powered loco, which is charged using solar power, working with one or more of our wagons. There will also be Heritage Railway stands and Model Railway displays and Southwold Railway films will be shown in Blythburgh Village Hall. There will also be a display of Southwold Railway artefacts which have been found on site. This is also a chance to see our ongoing restoration work at the station.
The Southwold Railway operated between 1879 and 1929 and Blythburgh Station was one of the intermediate stations on the line. It is situated next to the Village Hall and opposite the White Hart Public House on the A12.
